Bedford Police: 4-Car Crash Leads to DWI Arrest

A 24-year-old Katonah woman is facing a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated following a four-car accident on Route 35 Thursday evening.

Three people, including the woman police arrested, were transported by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco for non-life-threatening injuries, according to Bedford Police Lt. Jeffrey Dickan.

The accident occurred at about 5:30 p.m., when the accused's eastbound vehicle crossed the center median and struck three westbound vehicles near the Anderson Road intersection.

At least three of the vehicles sustained heavy damage and were towed, Dickan said. It took first-responders about an hour and a half to clear the scene. Several other agencies, including the Katonah Fire Department, the Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance and Somers Ambulance, responded.

The woman is due in court Feb. 13 to answer the DWI charge and two traffic violations. Police are awaiting toxicology reports to determine a blood-alcohol level.
