Bedford Police Officer Honored by MADD

Jonathan Evans, a Bedford Police Officer, has been honored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and New York State STOP-DWI Foundation for his work in protecting local drivers, according to an announcement from the Bedford Police Department.

Police note that last year there were 62 DWI arrests in town, with Evans responsible for 36 of them.

In a statement, Police Chief William Hayes said the following: “Officer Evans’ dedication to traffic enforcement has a significant effect on traffic safety in our community and he should be recognized for his life-saving efforts. I am proud to have him as part of my team and look forward to his continued success.”

Evans' award was done in conjunction with the Governors Traffic Safety Committee and the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, police announced.
