Fire Severely Damages North Castle Home

Several fire departments responded to an afternoon house fire in North Castle. Smoke continued to billow from the property well into the afternoon.

The smoke, which is near a large body of water, appeared to visually blend in with the snow.

Fire departments that responded include Armonk, Mount Kisco, Millwood, Pleasantville, Bedford Hills, Banksville, North White Plains and Somers. Chappaqua was standing by, while North Castle police also responded.

The main body of the fire at the house, located at 21 Faraway Road in Armonk, was out, according to Armonk First Assistant Fire Chief Paul Burns, but hotspots remained after. Damage was extensive and included a collapsed roof.

No people were injured and no one was at home, according to Burns, who responded at around 12:30 p.m. The firefighting response went well into the afternoon amid freezing weather.

A woman at the scene - another person confirmed that she is an owner of the house - declined to comment or give her name.

Mark DiCintio, who is a neighbor, spoke with reporters about the fire and his thoughts. Initially he believed that the smoke was snow that was blown. He was sympathetic, calling the matter “really devastating.”
