Bedford Election Turnout 'High'

Election turnout in Bedford has "been high," according to Town Clerk Boo Fumagalli, whose remarks were in the context of a local elections year.

Fumagalli attributes the turnout to the Westchester County Executive's race. Incumbent Rob Astorino (R-Mount Pleasant) is facing Democratic challenger and New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson.

Fumagalli, who is running for re-election as part of the Republican town ticket, has recused herself from visiting polling places, although her staff can deal with issues that could arise.

One problem this year is with the voting machines, which have gotten complaints about privacy, according to Fumagalli.

Fumagalli faces Democratic candidate Simone Shapiro. In the supervisor's race, Republican Don Scott and Democrat Chris Burdick are facing off. Two council seats are up for election. Running for those are Republican candidates Mary Beth Kass and Francis Corcoran against Democratic candidates Meredith Black and Julie Hallowell Vulpescu. There is also a contested town justice race, with Republican and incumbent Erik Jacobsen against Democratic challenger Judy Aydelott.
