Harckham Leads in Re-election Bid

Democratic County Legislators Peter Harckham is leading over his Republican challenger.

According to unofficial results from the Westchester County Board of Elections, with 45 out of 52 districts in, Harckham leads opponent Andrea Rendo by 5,608 votes to 4,945, or 53 percent to 47 percent.

Harckham represents District 2, which includes Bedford, Mount Kisco, Lewisboro, Pound Ridge, North Salem and part of Somers.

Harckham told Patch that Rendo called to concede. Rendo could not be reached for an interview.

Harckham said he is "still energized" by the work, referring to what the job entails.

He also weighed in on the re-election of Republican Rob Astorino for county executive; his opponent, New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson, announced that he conceded. Harckham described the outcome, which also involves the Democrats keeping the county board of legislators, as one of voters wanting checks and balances. He also wants to have a "bipartisan government."
