ZBA Review of Stepping Stones Continues

Bedford's Zoning Board of Appeals will continue its review tonight of an area variance for Stepping Stones' request to add parking space.

The foundation, which includes the former Katonah home of Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon founders Bill and Lois Wilson, needs the variance because it does not have property frontage along a county or state road. The town's code requires the frontage for groups with a eleemosynary/philanthropic use. Stepping Stones also contends that its use predates the code item.

The proposal calls for creating 13 on-site parking spaces on the roughly 8.5-acre property. It has garnered opposition from some neighbors, who have hired an attorney to represent them.

The board's meeting is tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the town annex building at 425 Cherry St. in Bedford Hills. The agenda, including new correspondences and updates over the issue in the following pages of the document, can be found at this link.
