Open Letter from Ali Boak, Pound Ridge Town Supervisor Candidate

Dear Fellow Pound Ridgers,

It would be my honor and privilege to serve as your next Town Supervisor. What can voters expect under my leadership if I’m elected?

First and foremost, an effective Supervisor must have a vision for what they want to accomplish and a plan for how to get there.

My vision for Pound Ridge is, in many ways, very much as it is today: to maintain its bucolic woods, open spaces, and stonewalls. To sustain and encourage a close-knit community, that takes pride in its traditions and unique, country character. To continue building a town with a big heart and a strong spirit of volunteerism.

My vision sees a Pound Ridge that does not have empty storefronts sitting vacant for years.

I see a Pound Ridge where we can use our cell phones and Wi-Fi in public spaces.

I see a government that can effectively carry out complex projects, such as building a community center or administering a Department of Transportation (DOT) project, which provides 80% of the cost of major improvements to Scotts Corners.

I see a government that is responsive to people’s concerns and one that solves problems in months and years … not decades.

As Supervisor, I will listen to you and respect your opinions. I will remain open to new ideas and solutions.

As Supervisor, I will bring together our citizens and build consensus, while also making difficult decisions when no consensus can be found.

As Supervisor, I will remain calm and level-headed, especially in the face of adversity and disagreement.

As Supervisor, I will continue the tradition of fiscal conservatism. I will keep taxes low and ensure that government can improve the lives of Pound Ridgers.

Over the past several months, I have shared with you my qualifications, platform and plans that I believe make me the strongest candidate for the Town Supervisor position. I have put together plans to:

  • Improve Government Efficiency and Spending
  • Bring Openness to our Government and Improve Communications
  • Create an Environmental Action Plan for Pound Ridge

My life has been dedicated to addressing tough problems. I was a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer, a Fulbright Scholar, and the founder of several national and international organizations. In addition, I am currently a member of the Pound Ridge Town Board.

I have a track record of being responsive, results-oriented, and a doer. I’m not afraid to take on big challenges and problems. I know how to bring people together and get things done. (For more information on my qualifications, please click here.)

It’s time for a new kind of government in Pound Ridge. We need a government that is proactive and plans for the future and that will take your concerns seriously.

I have assembled a qualified team–Dan Paschkes and Sherene De Palma for Town Board, and Ira Clair for Town Justice–that will preserve what we love about Pound Ridge and show that vision and responsive leadership, perspective and management experience will protect what matters most in Pound Ridge.

I respectfully ask for your VOTE on Tuesday, November 5th to serve as your next Town Supervisor.

Sincerely,

Ali Boak

Candidate for Town Supervisor

Pound Ridge
