3rd K-L School Closure Hearing is Today

Katonah-Lewisboro's School Closure Task Force will hold its third public hearing today, which will be about whether to close Lewisboro Elementary School (LES).

The hearing will be at 1 p.m. at John Jay Middle School.

District officials are interested in a potential closure due to falling enrollment at the elementary school level. It is also intended to help the school district's financial position in the future, based on remarks from Superintendent Paul Kreutzer at the last hearing.

The potential closure has been blasted by LES parents, who are worried about disruption for children, property values and whether or not the closure is needed at all.

Coverage from the previous hearing, which was held on Oct. 21, is at this link. The school closure section of the district's website is at this link.
