Harvey Boys Start New Year with League Victory in Basketball

Harvey's boys basketball team picked up a win Wednesday to start the second half of the season on the right foot.

(KATONAH) Harvey improved its league record to 3-0 and to 4-6 overall with a home court victory over Christian Heritage Wednesday 68-57.

Christian Heritage was hot early on and had as much as a nine-point lead midway through the first half. Ryan Conlan of the visiting team had the hot hand and finished with 22 points.

The Cavaliers were being outrebounded during the first half and were down by four, but they answered the call in the second half by playing aggressive defensive and looking to push the ball, which led to some fast break opportunities.

Harvey’s Deshawn Hilliard was a major force on the boards, ripping down 16 rebounds. The Cavaliers went ahead with six minutes remaining in the game and held the lead for the rest of the game.

Junior Ricky Hicks led the scoring for Harvey with 18 and had five assists. Senior Jake Cohn of Pound Ridge played a very strong second half, scoring 9 points and finished the game with 9 rebounds. Freshman Evan Roteman of Chappaqua scored 12 points.

Harvey travels to Forman Saturday for another league matchup. The Cavaliers lost twice to Forman last year.
