Harvey Opens Tuesday for New School Year

The Harvey School in Katonah signals the beginning of the new school year Tuesday with the celebration of the school’s 98th convocation.  In the traditional opening ceremony before the entire student body and staff, Headmaster Barry Fenstermacher will welcome 340 students in grades six through twelve, including six new upper school students from mainland China who represent Harvey’s initial venture into an international student program.

Three of the six Chinese students are entering Harvey as freshmen while the other three are joining the sophomore class. The students, three girls and three boys, will live in campus dormitories during the school week and stay with host families on weekends. They will be fully immersed in the school’s regular academic program as well as participate in extra-curricular activities. They plan to attend Harvey until they graduate with their respective class.

Tuesday’s schedule includes a full day of classes following a student orientation, advisor meetings, and the 8:50 am Convocation in the school’s Lasdon Theater.
