Rare Tortoise From Area Goes to Hospital Today

1. Support for parents of children with AD/HD

CHADD (Children and Adults With Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder), a national non-profit, parent-based organization that offers support and information on AD/HD, meets the first Tuesday of every month in Cross River. This month's topic is "Partnering with your child's school," and the featured speaker is Dr. Denise Sandor, school psychologist in the Yorktown Central School District. 2. Car enthusiasts to gather in Pound Ridge

From 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Sept. 24, a collection of cars will be on display in the Pound Ridge Town Park. Trophies will be awarded in categories including classic, corvettes (50s to the present), and more. for more information.

3. Bedford school board meets

The school board plans to review with Dr. Hochman, superintendent of schools, a "consolidated plan" approach, in order to discuss next steps in long-term planning. Among the topics for discussion are: school starting times, enhanced academic opportunities for students, changing the high school schedule and the capital plan.

4. Arts Alive meets

Tonight is the first meeting of ArtsAlive, the arts booster organization which supports arts curriculum and programming in the Katonah Lewisboro school district. It's an open meeting for anyone interested in learning about the organization and supporting the arts. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the John Jay High School conference room.

5. Rare Galapagos tortoise from area goes to the hospital

We've got the scoop on an endangered 300-pound Galapagos tortoise brought by its owner, a local resident, to Jeremy Sabatini of the Pleasantville Animal Hospital, to figure out why its hind leg isn't working well.
