Route 35 Slows Down for Tree Trimming

The work on the main thoroughfare of Lewisboro is expected to last a couple of days, crews said Tuesday afternoon.

Traffic in both directions on Route 35 in Lewisboro was down to one lane Tuesday afternoon while the Asplundh Tree Service trimmed trees near power lines.

The trimming is part of a major effort underway initiated by NYSEG. Residents had the chance to learn more about it at an information session at the Lewisboro Library.

Work will take place in Waccabuc, South Salem, Cross River and Goldens Bridge from now until September. Tuesday the work was on Rte. 35 east of 121, between Adams Hill and the Town Park.

The purpose of the work is to minimize power outages and the length of outages in town after storms, according to a report by The Lewisboro Ledger.

Lewisboro Town Clerk Janet Donohue said the work had been taking place in residential neighborhoods earlier in the week. The town did not have a schedule that indicated where roads crews would be specifically. A worker from the tree service told Patch on Tuesday that work on Route 35 could extend through Wednesday.
