Bedford Central Admins Back Fixes for West Patent, New Fox Lane MS Labs

And, tickets are now available for Caramoor's opening night gala.

1. BCSD to present capital plan

1. At tonight's school board meeting, the Bedford Central School District's administrative leadership will recommend having a major renovation for . According to the meeting agenda, the recommendation calls for a refurbished structure that is both "green" and "dry." West Patent, , is the only one of the district's five elementary schools never to have had a major update. The building, according to past presentations, has problems that include structural proximity to the water table and old, dilapidated sidings.

Last fall, the district for West Patent, including major repair to a complete tear down and replacement. The recommendation that will be presented is part of the district's broader capital plan for upgrading its facilities.

West Patent includes children from Mount Kisco, Bedford and New Castle.

Other capital plan recommendations for the meeting include new science labs and a cafeteria fix for , repairs to the outdoor field complex, and relatively miscellaneous repairs called "1st priority" items. 2. K-L seeks finance committee members

Via the K-L website: The Katonah Lewisboro Union Free School District Board of Education is seeking community members to serve on its Finance Committee.  Community members will be asked to commit to a two-year term of service.  Meetings of the Finance committee will be held at least four (4) times per year and usually take place at 7:30 p.m. at the John Jay Middle School. Subject to the Board’s charge, the Committee can be expected to be involved in such tasks as the ongoing review of the District’s overall business practices and financial planning and investing, periodic budget reviews, and the budget process.  For more information visit the district website.

3. Caramoor's opening night

Celebrate the opening of the 67th International Music Festival and Michael Barrett, who will be departing the music and arts center after this season. There's a cocktail hour at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and a concert, Midsummer Night's Dream, at 8:30 pm. The actress and songstress Bebe Neuwirth will serve as narrator for the performance which features Gil Shaham on violin and Roberto Abbado conducting the Orchestra of St. Luke’s. Downtown Mount Kisco has one less vacancy with the opening of Healthy Paws Pet supply—and locals have one more place to go for all of the pet needs. 5. Teen book group

Do you have a teenager that has read "Turnabout" by Margaret Haddix? Wednesday night they can join the "In-Between Pages" book group at the .
