Katonah's Sale Days Start Tomorrow

The annual sidewalk sale takes place Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

1. Annual Sidewalk Sales Aug. 3-4 in Katonah

Love, love, love the sidewalk sales in Katonah! Great clothes, gifts and other items will be marked down so retailers can make way for fall merchandise. The event is sponsored by TrustCo Bank and organized by the , which suggests making a day of the event by shopping in the hamlet's independent stores, grabbing some lunch, and taking a tour of the town's charming neighborhood. Looking for something to do with your kids next week? How about Summer History Adventure Days at the John Jay Homestead? The camp runs from August 6 - 10 and is themed "I Love New York: History of the Empire State."
History Adventure Days runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is for children entering 2nd - 7th grade. The fee is $250 per week (members receive a 10 percent discoun) or you may also choose a day rate. for details.

3. Summer Visions photo contest deadline

The Katonah Village Library's third annual photography contest deadline is fast approaching. From KVL: Send a JPEG of your picture to katref@wlsmail.org, with your name, age, address and telephone number. If you can also give us a 4"x6" print we can post it in the Teen Time room. Last day to submit is Tuesday, August 7th.  Ages 10-18,  must be a resident of Westchester County to participate.  Winners will be announced on August 14th.  Click here to see last year's winners. 4. Olympic gymnast trained in Chappaqua

The Chappaqua-Mt. Kisco Patch had a story Wednesday about Olympic gymnast John Orozco placing 8th in the men's individual all-around final—not qualifying for a medal. While he did not win a medal, Orozco has won the support from folks locally. At in Chappaqua, where Orozco trained from 2001 to 2010, there was support and excitement for him as he went through tough times. Folks cheered into the last event, and some sported T-shirts in his honor.

5. More Olympic Fun

To inspire your youngster—or just get them out of the house for a while—bring them down to for Olympic Fun Day, where they can do gymnastics, Olympic themed games & crafts, and have a pizza lunch. It runs from 5:30-7:00pm, and is for ages: 4-8 years. The fee is $25 for non-members. Registration is required, Call 914.244.8811.
