South Salem Carnival Starts Tonight

The South Salem Fire Department parade route will close Route 35 on Wednesday.

Lewisboro may be a small town but the annual festivities around the Parade are anything but small—they draw hundreds of residents to the center of town to have fun and raise funds for the local volunteer firefighters.

Here's what you should know before you go to the carnival, which opens tonight, and the parade, slated to start at 7 p.m. on Wed. Aug. 8.

Weather Forecast

According to the National Weather Service, the weather should be near-perfect for this year's festivities.

For opening night, Tuesday evening is supposed to be mostly clear with a low around 65. After a mostly sunny Wednesday, there is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight. It's only a 20 percent chance of precipitation, but you may want to bring an umbrella just in case.

Parade Route and Road Closures

The parade's route is a straight shot down Route 35—which will be closed for the duration of the parade—from Spring Street to the fire department and carnival grounds.

Parade goers may park at the beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday and board a shuttle bus that will take them to firehouse.
