Tree Planting to Honor George Delaney is Tuesday

The Bedford Democratic Committee invites the community to join them in the dedication of a Memorial Tree and plaque to honor the memory of George Delaney, a former resident of Bedford Hills who died in February. He was 84.

Delaney was an active community member who was involved in town politics and the Bedford Lions Club. He served as the former chair of the Bedford Democratic Committee and was elected Honorary Chair posthumously.

Delaney was was instrumental in electing Democrats in Bedford after a long run of a predominantly Republican government. He also provided key support to John Hall and other national and state candidates. Delaney worked endlessly, tirelessly and effectively on behalf of his community, contributing his time and expertise not only to progressive candidates and causes but also to several community organizations.

He was also a devoted husband to Carol, a father, grandfather and a wonderful and loyal friend.

The dedication will take place at the at Beaver Dam Park, 135 Beaver Dam Rd Katonah, NY on Tuesday, June 12 at 7 p.m. There is a rain date of Thurs. June 14. Canine Commons was selected because it was a favorite spot for Delaney to take his little dog, Harry, and sit on a bench and simply enjoy being there with other dog owners.  

All are invited to celebrate the great life and legacy of George Delaney.
