Police Appoint Romeo as Newest Officer

Douglas Romeo brings nine years of experience to the Bedford Police Department.

The Bedford Police Department welcomed its newest officer on Jan. 24 when Douglas Romeo started his training.

The 35-year-old Mahopac resident brings 9 years of experience—five in New York City and most recently, four years as an officer for the town of Carmel. After he completes his training, he'll be assigned to the operations division of the patrol services bureau, the department's announcement said.

Romeo's hiring is the latest in a series of changes at the police department—most notably, the retirement of six officers at the end of 2012.
