K-L Transportation Staff Recognized for Outstanding Service

Sean Ryan, Radcliff Barckley and Jim Minihan were honored for their skill in handling two recent school bus accidents.

The K-L school board presented employee recognitions to two school bus drivers and the director of transporation Thursday night for their skill in handling two recent accidents involving district buses.

Board President Mark Lipton praised Sean Ryan and Radcliff Barckley for exemplifying "professionalism, attention to duties and selfless actions...while transporting the students of KLSD resulting in the preservation and ultimate safety of all concerned."

Barckley was driving a bus with 19 students from when it collided with a yellow SUV near the intersection of Rtes. 35 and 22. Ryan was driving the morning of Oct. 19 when a bus with 43 students was involved in a three-car crash on Rte. 35 in South Salem, according to this Lewisboro Ledger report. There were no injuries reported from either accident but students were taken to area hospitals for evaluation.

Lipton also called out Jim Minihan, director of transportation, for directing and leading his staff.

"We appreciate all that you do on behalf of the board, community and students," he told Minihan, who modestly deflected the praise back to his drivers.
